Photography as a passion. I believe it's a challenge, an art in which you compete with yourself.

I'm Beatriz Martínez, originally from Yecla (Murcia), Spain. My interest in photography dates back to when I was very young. I've always been deeply drawn to it. I still keep old cameras, a snapshot from the 1970s, a company-issued Canon SLR that we used to create sofa catalogs... Whose lens, by the way, is a Canon EF 24-70mm f.2.8 that's over 20 years old, and I still use it today with spectacular results. I believe a good lens can last a lifetime. Going through each and every one of the compact cameras I've owned over the years, I keep them out of romantic scrutiny, I suppose; they're my treasure!

In 2022, I bought my first mirrorless cameras, the Canon Eos R and an R7 with an APSC sensor for wildlife. That's when I discovered manual shooting mode—a real challenge, a captivating form of expression. You can create, capture a moment, bring it to life and bring your personal touch to the editing process, make it unique, and then show it to everyone to interpret it freely, sometimes very differently than you intended, and that's wonderful!

I consider myself a tremendously passionate and joyful person, and this motivates me to want to learn and constantly evolve in all its forms: landscape, wildlife, macro... I'm an eternal learner, lucky enough to currently reside in Asturias, an inexhaustible resource for the landscape photographer, although I also enjoy it immensely anywhere else. The trick is to have the camera in hand, and everything transforms. I learn to "look," transporting myself to a place where I'm happy... Any little corner, before the photographer's eyes, can hide a great work of art; this never ceases to amaze me.

My current equipment consists of a Canon R5 Mark II and an astro-modified R7 (photographing stars is like daydreaming), my collection of lenses, various gadgets, and the DJI mini 4 Pro.
